Open Source

Open Source email systems form a critical component of the global email infrastructure. Sendmail and Postfix are the world's most popular MTAs and according to one estimate, there are 150,000 SpamAssassin users worldwide.

Users of these systems tend to be highly sophisticated and self-sufficient - the last type of person who ever considers buying a commercial solution. Nonetheless, the open-source community needs a better connection management solution than is offered by standard MTAs. Traffic Control can fill that gap.

Traffic Control is a front-end proxy for SpamAssassin and open-source mail servers. It provides an 85% reduction in spam traffic over and above blacklisting by selectively shaping email traffic, causing 90-97% of spammers to give up before messages have even hit the spam filter and giving SpamAssassin precious time to update its rules in order to catch new spam campaigns.

Unlike other connection management approaches like grey-listing and RBLs, Traffic Control not only provides the most effective email traffic shaping on the market, but also provides a 50 to 100x improvement in the concurrency-handling capabilities of open-source mail servers, virtually eliminating service delays and outages due to spam outbreaks.
