Dennis Adler, Director

When he left Microsoft, Mr. Adler was the General Manager of Business Development for the Microsoft Research (MSR) Advanced Technology Center (ATC). In that role, he worked with product groups across the company, matching technology transfer and consulting opportunities up with the expertise and resources of ATC. Previously, Mr. Adler was the first director-at-large in MSR, working on a variety of projects, including anti-spam technologies, advanced graphics, reconciliation of Web Services protocols with various platform initiatives, and investigations into new user and document paradigms for the Vista release of Windows.

Jim Thompson, Director

Jim Thompson has thirty years of executive experience in high-growth, technology-based businesses, serving a variety of commercial and business markets. He has held senior management positions ranging from President and CEO to VP Finance and CFO, following earlier roles as Controller, Director of Sales and Marketing, Product Manager and Sales Manager. He has worked with both public and venture-backed companies, delivering hardware and software products as well as systems and services. Most recently, he has been actively engaged in various start-up companies in Washington and British Columbia, as an investor, founder, and director.

Throughout his career, Jim has been known for developing and implementing sound strategic and operating plans as well as managing well-structured financings to support growth. As the CFO of Itron, one of the largest suppliers of metering technology, Jim lead many successful corporate transactions, including their IPO and secondary offering, during a period of exceptional growth. He has also guided the negotiation and execution of mergers and acquisitions, licensing agreements, partnerships, strategic alliances and joint ventures. Originally a civil engineer from McGill in Montreal, Jim has an MBA from Stanford and lives in Bellingham.

Eric Winsborrow, Director

Eric Winsborrow was the VP of Product Marketing for McAfee, where he conceived and executed the most successful launch in company history, "Total Protection Solutions," repositioning the company from anti-virus to security risk management. Eric also held executive positions at security companies, including Symantec, Sygate, and Cloudmark, and unified communications vendors Cisco, Lucent and Nortel. Eric Winsborrow currently works for Sipera Systems where, as Chief Marketing Officer, he is responsible for Sipera’s marketing, product management and business development.

Eric conducted his undergraduate studies in Engineering Physics and Economics at McMaster University in Canada, and completed his MBA in International Business and Marketing in Japan.

Ken Simpson, Co-Founder and Director

Prior to founding MailChannels, Ken Simpson was a founder and CTO of FatPort, Canada's largest wireless hotspot provider. At FatPort, Ken was responsible for securing financing, assembling a world-class executive team, managing the development and roll-out of the company's hotspot network, and establishing strategic technology relationships with leading companies including Intel. Ken has a successful track record of co-founding and building successful technology companies in a number of sectors, including ActiveState (now a division of Sophos), Circa Communications (now the IP telephony division of Polycom), and Sutus (a start-up developing converged solutions for small business).

Will Whittaker, Co-Founder and Director

Computer security expert and developer Will Whittaker, brings 10 years of computer security leadership to MailChannels. As an early employee at ActiveState, Will was one of the initial developers of PerlMX, which later became the industry leading PureMessage anti-spam solution. In 2003, ActiveState was acquired by Sophos, a leading computer security company. Mr. Whittaker is a published author and guest speaker at numerous international conferences including the O'Reilly Open Source Conference. For many years Will has also been a key organizer of the annual CanSecWest security conference, a world-renowned event for computer security professionals.
