MailChannels is searching for a highly skilled system administrator with 5-7 years of experience running mission critical Unix-based systems. We're not just looking for someone who knows a bit of Linux, we need someone who can architect, build, maintain, and document hundreds of Unix-based servers in multiple geographic locations.
Reports to:
- Director of Operations
Primary responsibilities:
- Running a cluster of Linux-based systems which provide mission critical services to MailChannels customers.
- Ongoing design, documentation, and implementing new system architectures to improve system availability and scalability.
- Running and improving network monitoring systems.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise at running complex, highly available Unix systems.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and communication skills (i.e. documentation ability).
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for mission critical systems -- i.e. you must be able to explain what you did when the server caught fire at your last job.
- A desire to continually improve and learn.
Education:
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Technical Diploma from a Reputable College
