Reducing the volume of abusive traffic is an important first step in any email security solution. Traffic Control™ goes a step further with its patent-pending Real-Time SMTP Multiplexing™ (RTSM). When spammers turn up the volume, sudden spikes in connection concurrency can overwhelm traditional email servers such as Sendmail, Microsoft Exchange, and Novell Groupwise. RTSM insulates edge email servers from excessive concurrency by carefully multiplexing up to thousands of email sender connections across a small pool of email server connections.

Traffic Control™ multiplexes up to 10,000 connections from email senders onto a much smaller pool of connections with your MTA. By reducing the number of connections the MTA has to handle, Traffic Control™ ensures that the MTA never gets overloaded – even if thousands of zombies are trying to deliver spam during a heavy burst in spam traffic.
